<p dir="auto">it was NOT the best picture.  Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction were both moderately superior but this only reuslted in them cancelling each other out and, like Jenny, let Gump slip in.<br />
This only goes to show what an exceptional year 1994 was and that to miss viewing either one of these would be a loss.<br />
I may be twisted, but I'm not miserable.</p>

<p dir="auto">Quiz Show was imo the best of the nominees.<br />
Shawshank wasn’t in the running.  It’s popularity surged in the years following the Oscars - it had not made much money and was an underdog, lucky to get the nominations it did.<br />
I think Gump, a monster hit that hit the zeitgeist, was always out in front, with Pulp Fiction the runner-up, but a distant one.</p>
