He did this at the peak of his career.
He got top billing and his face on the poster, but he isn't really the star, and must've known it.
It builds up to a sequel about his character, but it never got made with Cruise. Did he ever even intend to make it?
Then there's the gay overtones. Even if the vampires aren't literally gay, they may as well be. Cruise was plagued by gay rumors in the 90s, and seemingly leaned into them with this role.

Season 3 is coming out this year. Louis of exclusively gay, and black. Lestat will **** anything. Armand ****s dudes too but I don't know if he tolerates the ladies or not.
