They're not bisexual, they're asexual. Originally, the first line of that was a short paragraph on how all of Anne Rice's characters are default bisexual unless specifically assigned to be otherwise. I know, because I wrote it.
Then, a "legitimate" IMDB contributor railroaded over the entire FAQ, and then locked it because she considers her word to be gospel. Now it's wrong, and will continue to be so. Way to go, IMDB!
In the old days on this board, we used to call them biromantic or bisensual. J and Elm, where ever you are these days, I miss those talks we used to have!

From the IWTV FAQ on IMDB:
Are Ricean vampires homosexual?
No, they are bisexual. In the Ricean universe, sexual drive, sexual enjoyment, and sexual functioning is a characteristic of mortals and is lost in the transformation from human to vampire. Vampires are sensual, androgynous, and completely asexual creatures. Although vampires may feel love keenly, the attraction they feel for their companions (human or vampire, male or female) is emotional and intellectual.

That was his mother Gabrielle, but I don't see them as lovers. Lestat's true love at that point was Nicki. I don't really see it with Claudia and Louis either, especially since Louis denies being in love with her to Armand.

Lestat's first companion was female. They were together for 10 years.
She was simply
she
, the one I had needed all of my life with all of my being.
The only woman I had ever loved.
Her actual death didn't take long.

All of Anne Rice's vampires are bisexualwell, maybe "omnisexual" is the better term, since they don't view each other with genders due to how becoming a vampire changed them both physically and mentally. Lestat was bisexual in the books before he turned. Louis was a widower in the film, but in the book he was depressed because he blamed himself for his
brother's death
, so Louis's sexuality before turning isn't clear.
David Talbot, leader of the Talamasca
, was gay or bisexual before he was turned in
The Tale of the Body Thief
. Anne Rice's vampires are very sexual but they don't have sex due to their sexual organs not working, which also influences their sexual orientation upon turning. Lestat's explanation for why he never had a female companion in his early vampire years was simply that he didn't find the women of his time period very interesting, though he does end up in romantic entanglements with several women (human and vampire) throughout the series, including Akasha and Rowan Mayfair.

Anne Rice specifically put homoerotic undertones in the books. The act of biting is a metaphor for sexual penetration. So anytime a male vampire bites a male victim it symbolizes a sexual act.

Male vampires don't always chose males as companions, and there are female vampires, like Claudia.
Since vampires reproduce by blood, they are asexual. They lose all sexual functioning when they are born to darkness. That being said, there definitely is a romantic element in their long-term partnerships. Gender is no longer an issue.
