What happened to the swat gear they pulled him out with?

How did Stanfield recognize Leon when Leon took off the resuscitator mask (near the end)? Where? when? & How?

I like to think that it's the cop in Stansfield that let's him figure out that it's Leon.

You're right, Leon and Stansfield never actually met prior to the escape scene in the stair with the medic.
I can see 2 possibilities

    1. near the beginning, Leon notices Mathilda hides her cigarette and then go to his apartment. At the same time , Stansfield get out Matilda's and faces Leon closing his door. He's a trained cop (corrupted though) and can probably remember someone face he's only glimpsed a part of second. He made the connection when Leon removed his mask.
    1. Security cams probably caught Leon rescuing Mathilda from the DEA building

My guess is that Tony gave Stansfield information about Leon including a picture of him when he went and met him in his restaurant
