So love this movie. Just plain fun getting lost in the talented cast and the wacky story. I was laying on the couch under 2 thick comforters with a wicked cold and there it was on the CW. Better than any cold medicine, or hot tea.

I love watching this around the holidays, but I don't have it on dvd. It's a Christmas movie staple just like Christmas Vacation or a Christmas Story in my book!

Right all the talk of Christmas in the movie is entirely superfluous. Except completely not. Did you actually watch the film before commenting?

It hardly seems like an Xmas movie. It just happens to take place during the holidays.

We have been watching this movie every year since we first discovered it, about 17 years ago and it is one of our favorites! We usually watch it first, around the beginning of December, because it really puts us in the Christmas mood!!! Sorry if you think that might be blasphemous or weird, but it helps us laugh and not be stressed out by the season. Very funny movie - love it!

This movie has me laughing all the way . . . For the third time. Can we call it "slapstick?" Not exactly, although there are elements . . . but I hate slapstick! Why am I laughing? Madeleine Kahn! She twitches an eyebrow, lowers her voice an octave and her chin an inch, and voila! We are laughing. Steve Martin? Dancing with a transvestite, trying to bend his body so their . . . privates don't touch? His poor colleague finding refuge in the bathtub? The landlord shot accidentally and wrapped up as a Christmas tree . . . what is his name? Tannenbaum and natcherly, as it turns out, he needed to be killed . . . The "sound track" in this movie is pure genius: a song 100% comically appropriate to the previous scene hits you . . . after the first few bars.
In fact, that is the M.O. of the film: there's a hiccup in every comic moment between its execution and the "I get it!" by the audience and that makes everything doubly hilarious.
Yup, you gotta see it to believe it. To believe me!
Merrryyy Chrisssstmass!!

I do really like this film but it can't compare to the classics (Scrooge, Miracle on 34th Street etc).
I think it's a good Xmas film but not a great one.
Faith is believing in something when common sense tells you not to

I love this movie so much. It's quirky, irreverent and I always laugh all through it. It is on my "must see every year" list of holiday movies.

I have to agree, this is our family's favorite movie of all time. I'm surprised it got such a low rating on IMDB. When Adam Sandler is singing his songs to Katherine, watching Steve Martin get irritated is so hilarious. LOL.

This is also my favorite Christmas movie! I love it. Looks like a lot of people on this website may disagree with us! Oh well, I have had this movie on VHS forever and just found it on DVD at Target and I'm thrilled. I watch it every year. Liev in this movie is too good. Some great quotes as well.
Hey, did you ever try dunking a potato chip in champagne? It's real crazy!
