Trying to find an answer to this but can't seem to find one.
The scene where Rago first meets Drill Sergeant Cass, Rago calls him "Lou" to which an irate (or confusedcouldn't figure it out) Drill Sergeant Cass replies "Who the beep is Lou?"
Can someone help explain why Rago calls him "Lou?"

And if that was his first name (the credits don't say), how would Rago know anyway?

Lol!!! I always thought that Lu referred to LIEU-tenant. I don't think Bill knew the difference between lieutenants and sergeants and such.
"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

I always thought Lou is the character's first nameLou Cass.
His response of "who's Lou" was his way of conveying that they are not friends, this is not a relaxed situation, and in the future, he should be addressed in front of the soldiers by his proper rank/title.

The only thing I can think of is Lou Gossett, Jr played a Marine drill instructor in An Officer and a Gentleman.
