This movie will always have a special place in my heart because I had the pleasure of hanging out on the set as an extra on the movie. "RenMan" was shot mostly in my home town of Columbia, SC, at Ft. Jackson, way back in the fall of '93. It was a blast.
Although the life of a movie extra is far from glamorous, I had great time watching actors interact, watching Penny Marshall direct her cast and just seeing the workings of a real film shoot.
In the end, a lot of what I shot didn't end up in the movie, but there is a fleeting shot of me in the final scene, which is cool. Anyway, I'll remember those few days in October of '93 forever.

Me too! My kids and I worked on the film's opening scenes, shot in Detroit. The scene of my kids and I with Danny at the unemployment office was cut, but you can still me wearing sunglasses in a red Geo Storm behind Danny in the traffic jam on Jefferson (during the opening credits). It took us 3 days to shoot that sceneI must have idled away 3 tanks of gas!
