True, but at least he wasn't bratty, he just had an annoying voice that made him seem whiny.
He has proven many times throughout the film that he genually cares for this dad and family. Like Scott said, he's the least selfish person he knows.

Charlie was very irritating to watch at times. I think I would have given up after 20 minutes had someone else been the protagonist and not Tim Allen. I don't like saying that, sadly, cause I was expecting a nice family movie.

He annoyed the he'll out of me. If I would have acted like that, my parents would have grounded me.

Agreed. I like the movie but I hate Charlie's character. He's so annoying. He never listened at all to his dad. He's a kid that deserved a good whooping.

I agree, whiny. I'm just now watching the whole thing finally. Irritatingly whiny. But most movie kids are in Christmas movies. They're all either ungrateful brats or exceptionally needy. A happy, well-adjusted, appropriately-spoken kid wouldn't work in a Christmas movie plot. But it does make it hard to sit through this. Ugh. So bored.

But good gravy, Eric Lloyd's lines are delivered with that type of whine that would've earned me a good butt whoopin' and a grounding.
Anyone who would beat and ground a child for something so stupid isn't parent material. That's not normal.
