True lies came out a month after Speed. I think Speed Grossed better at the Box Office as well. Which action movie that came out in the Summer of 1994 is better Speed or True Lies? I say Speed is slightly better because Dennie Hopper played a hell of a villain in it.

Gotta go with Speed. Better villain, great concept, more suspense, takes itself somewhat seriously

Both are great films but True Lies wins. Speed is awesome though too

I think they both stand up pretty well. True Lies is still pretty unique after all these years, with it's rather unique blend of equal parts full on action film with zany rom-com.

Since I think they both delivered in every way they wanted to (True Lies is a great mix of action and comedy, while Speed is straight up action), I'm going to say they're about equal. However, I personally prefer Speed. True Lies, as big of a movie as it is, doesn't quite thrill me like Speed does every time I watch it. Dated? Sure, True Lies' smooth direction and performances hold up better, but other than that Speed remains a top tier action movie.
You want something corny? You got it!

Are you saying Hans was a better Villain than Howard Payne? Thats the real debate right there.
I recently saw it again for the first time in years, and, i don't know, it didn't feel right. It really felt like a lame 90's action movie.
Die Hard on the other hand, still feels like it could have been made today.
Just my opinion of course.
I'm just on my way up to Clavius.

30 years later and Die Hard is still a masterpiece,
but Speed is aging badly
.
How so?

I never heard anyone compare Speed to Die Hard. Die Hard is far superior. Even Hans is a better villain than Howard Payne.

True Lies.
Speed imo doesn't hold up. Speed was supposed to be the next Die Hard (a 'good' action movie).
30 years later and Die Hard is still a masterpiece, but Speed is aging badly.
True Lies on the other hand, still is fresh and funny. The best mix action/comedy EVER put on screen.
I'm just on my way up to Clavius.
