In the first few seasons, Drew works at a department store. In the last season, he is working somewhere else and Wick is a weatherman on a religious TV station. What happened? Where did Kellie come from?

Sounds like you missed the entire Season 8.
Season 7 ends with Winfred-Lauder in dire financial straits. When Season 8 starts, it is gone (bankrupt), and Drew is looking for work. The building became the HQ for The Neverending Store (an Amazon-like Internet business). Drew eventually gets a job there. Wick is there, as well, as the janitor.
Kellie's just an old friend that reenters Drew's life in Season 8, right after Kate left.
