Anybody have a list of the musicians/bands/performers on the show so we can can beg/ harass them into lowering their rates?
I mean, who gives a crap about the music anyway? That's not why we watched this show.
It could actually get the music more exposure for Pete's sake!

It's so stupid on both sides of the aisle. They don't want to pay the "high costs", but how much $ are the record companies losing by not selling the rights and thereby losing the exposure of their songs when the shows are in re-runs?
I distinctly remember from WKRP, Dr. Johnny Fever playing Van Morrison's "Caravan" and how he was grooving to it. I don't know if they changed that song when they did a release of the show, but I bought the Van Morrison CD with that song on it.
So, don't sell the rights and make sure that no one ever hears that song on that show again.
Sure. That makes a lot of sense!

WB don't have any excuses to not release this. Saying "high music costs" is pretty stupid. I mean, the TV series Daria got its whole series released for chrissake. And that show was loaded with popular music that was playing on MTV at the time. They simply replaced the music. Surely DCS can do the same damn thing.

This is why it's so great to have the torrents of the show.
BUT wait, there's a catch. A lot of the recorded from TV episodes are the edited and censored episodes. When it first aired it was un-edited and un-censored. So, all you're really left with is an incomplete version of a terrific show.
This is really why we pretty much need the DVD's/blu-ray's.
This same crap happened to Northern Exposure. They couldn't get the music rights to a lot of the music. So on the DVD's they replaces a lot of the good music with crappy free to use elevator music. To say this ruins the show is to say there might be some salt water in the ocean. Once again, torrents to the rescue. Thankfully most of this show remained intact.
Same goes for Daria. They even had a Daria restoration project. Fans edited the F'n music back into the show and re-released it via a torrent. But sadly these have no seeds these days. So, you can't really download them any more.
I need to make a list of the jokes that were cut out the re-aired censored version of the show.
The only one I can remember off the top of my head is when Lewis says, "Well, I'm not freezing my crotch if that's what you're thinking." When he's trying to freeze his crotch with an icey from seven 11.

It's the same thing that has killed WKRP Fans forever. Don't see it ever changing. The owners of the show don't have the confidence in the show selling on BluRay to pay the upfront money for the music rights before they'd put it out. Shout! is the only company that knows how to do this stuff right, but the show's owners just sit on these shows instead working out a deal with Shout! Blows.
