Here in Quebec movie titles change a lot. In the case of The crossing guard, they changed it because there is no equivalent of this expression in french that sounds ok for a movie title,
In fact a crossing guard in french would translate: Le brigadier. I assure you this is a crappy title to sell a movie. L'obsession is much better in this point of view.
