I've been interested in reading a script for this film for a long time, never found it from internet and finally purchased it from Script City. It's a surprisingly short screenplay, only 64-pages and it's a 1.st draft.
In the film's commentary track Sean Penn says that his original script ends with Freddy being pulled over by cops and arrested for drunk driving and that's how i expected it to be. To my surprise, chase sequence to graveyard was included and after a scene in the bus where Freddy and John just stare each other before continuing runningJohn Booth breaks into bicycle store, grabs a bike and takes off! and Freddy..he does the same! Understandably Mr Penn thought this might be little over the top and kept the scene more down to earth..and on foot.

Here we are, relegated to the message board while some clown who made it to the User Reviews said that the chase scene was unrealistic. He thought that Booth was running flat out and that somehow, Freddy, an out of shape drunk, was still able to keep up with him.
I mean, OBVIOUSLY Booth was making sure he didn't lose Freddy. He wanted to lead him to the grave.

Well, hollywood has always given beep endings that defy logic. Morons.
Hero beats bad guy/Bad guy becomes good guy/Everyone is happy/everything is accepted.

Interesting reply Wes.. my only problem is that I would think that Jack would have gone through with shooting him. It just didn't feel real at all to me. PLus, I didn' think it made the film better the way they ended it as opposed to other possibilities.

I think the chase scene in itself was ok, though maybe a bit long, but the end felt a bit to forced/cheesy for my liking.

And the end of the chase, when John collapses on her grave and whispers "Your Daddy's coming." rips your heart right out

The chase seemed very real. I mean usually in movie when they have a on foot chase no one losses their breath. The pace they were going at seemed realistic. I mean Freddy was drunk and John was out of shape and took breaks(only because he was leading him to his daughter's grave I guess).

Really, I didn't like the chase scene. I think the movie should have ended with Jack shooting david morse by the trailer.
