I want to like Tyra and I do like her for the most part. Aside from her acting being weak, she was in a relationship with John Singleton at the time this movie came out, every girl that auditioned, Tyra told John, "No, not her." Next girl, "No, not her. No, not her." On and on until John said, "Well, who then? You want it?" That's how she got the role of Deja. Its that that makes me feel a certain type of way.
Anyway, the way the role is it reminds me of girls i used to know. The attitude for no real reason, the topical no nonsense type like they're so above whom ever in front of everyone, ("I don't want him.") Meanwhile on the low, they're hopping in bed with every thug that wants to.
Not necessarily Tyra but more the role type of Deja. I don't know, I just think I would've enjoyed it more if someone else had played the role.
And do we have to talk about the love scene? Ok, I'll just say there was nothing sexy there except Malik (Omar Epps). To me, the chemistry of them together was off and totally unconvincing just like it was in Love and Basketball.
Don't come for me unless I send for you. There is consequence.
