because it discussed the bias and prejudice associated with the gay/transgender community.
The movie has many standout performances and the late Robin Williams will be missed

It's a feelgood movie,
it reminds me of indie movie Bagdad Cafe (1987), which was also sitcom from 1990.

It discusses prejudices and biases dealt with by the gay drag queen community.
Noxeema quite clearly explains near the start, the difference between, transvestite, (a term that is not often tossed around much anymore), transsexual or transgender as now known, and gay fabulousness.
These ladies were fab "gay" drag queens.

Robin Williams isn't in this.
Williams has an uncredited cameo at the start as John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. He exchanges the ladies airline tickets for cash.

I agree, but I think you're thinking of The Birdcage. Robin Williams isn't in this.

I wouldn't say ahead of its time so much as.. a remake.. but yeah, it was out ahead of alot of the issues.. And still is pretty relevant today. BUT.. its ahead of its time but slightly behind the film that its a loose remake of ("Priscilla Queen of the Desert"). It's not exactly the same.. but I'd say.. Terence Stamp is very similar to the Swayze character with Guy Pierce very similar to Leguizamo.. although I don't really find much comparison between Hugo Weaving's and Snipes' characters.
