I'm guessing they would have driven back to New York, so they could return the car to the rental place (I think it was rental rather than selling?). Vida would probably wanna see Carol Anne, and same with Noxy and Clara.
NY to LA is what, fifty hours drive? So getting to Snydersville, especially when they're not lost, would be a cinch!

I thought I was the only one who ever gave any thought to whether or not they went back. I like to think they did. They made a connection with the people of Snydersville, so it seems logical that they would go back to see everyone they had such an impact on & who had such an impact on them.

I've wondered the same thing. Considering that the ending likely was a year later, I'm sure they made the same trip out to Hollywood and stopped for a visit.
