<p dir="auto">a movie ahead of its timeI believe it gives you an honest depiction of what the gay/transgender community faces.<br />
Vida goes home - only to be rejected by her own mother.<br />
Vida befriends the battered wife - but it isn't until the end (after gaining trust) that Vida reveals she is really a man.<br />
The sheriff (who is supposed to protect all equally) calls the trio weird and other names while persuing and persecuting them. The town rises to defend the trio.<br />
Chi chi is almost attacked by a group of men.<br />
So many themes and issues faced - all were handled delicately in this movie.</p>
