I don't know a single person who doesn't like this film, I'm starting to think there is a conspiracy against Waterworld, or some smear campaign against it. Sure it cost alot, and didn't bring in the amount that was hoped for in the box office. Ticket sales don't determine the quality of a film, if that was the case then The Boondock Saints was a horrible movie because it didn't become popular until someone gave you the DVD

Befuddles me, it's a great action flick with a reasonably simple plot. What else would civilization possibly desire more than dry land to flourish? This shows it's "every man for himself." Good cast and music and pretty ocean.
