I can tell you this because I (co) wrote the screenplay with Greg Spence, the director. I don't know if this is still a going topic, but I just ran across this thread, and I found it interesting that there's so much debate. So if anyone's interested, post your interest, I'll check, and if there are a few, I'll tell you the real story behind the script, the real meanings, and etc. SCB

IF You read The FAQ,The Director
s Commentary on The DVD reveals A Deleted Scene in which The Characters are discussing The Cult & One explains that The Children have Another Name for Josiah:"He Who Walks Behind The Rows".Essentially,"He Who Walks Behind The Rows" is Josiah
s Vengeful Spirit.Josiah
s Lack of Personality may explain why "HWWBTR" can sometimes be influenced by His Host as in "Isaac
s Return".

lol troll fail. Guys, just because someone CLAIMS to be something, doesn't mean they are. Did you forget that this is the internet? Why don't you check the guy's profile. This is the first and only thing he's ever posted on the IMDB boards. He obviously made a second account just to do this. Say he'll answer a question people really wanted to know if he gets enough interest in it, then laughing himself silly when he reads people begging to tell them the answer. Why didn't he just tell us the answer right off the bat? Answer: because he's a troll, that's why.

i haven't read all the topics on this flick but just finished watching the film and came here to read up on it. i noticed in the trivia that there's a deleted scene where they say the kids refer to josiah as he who walks behind the rows, so i'm left to wonder, and assume that the question you're referring to is is josiah's origin supposed to be the origin of the evil spirit 'he who walks behind the rows,' and is that why all the kids are crazy cultists (josiah was a preacher) and they're all children (because josiah never grew up)? that would make sense. in fact, i like it. i should read the stephen king story to see how well this works as an origin story. regardless, it's not bad for this one particularly. the only thing left to ask is, why is the name 'he who walks behind the rows?' how does that play in with josiah's story in particular, other than sounding super creepy?
