He didn't become evil after getting half of Draco's heart, he wanted to be like his father who was a tyrant. Draco's heart was blamed because Bowen refused to accept that Einon was responsible for the person he had become.

The way I see it, Einon was a spoiled, evil brat long before the movie even took place. That bastard didn't deserve the piece of Draco's that was given to him.

From what I saw in the movie, Einon looked like a d*** from the start and as soon as he became king, he got worse. Hate to say but I think his mom spoiled him and didn't discipline him enough while growing up

It's like Eve and the apple, she wasn't pure enough to eat it. And Einon wasn't pure enough for the heart.

I'm pretty sure someone already stated this in some form or another, but it's explained in the movie.
He didn't become evil, he was evil from the begining. Bowen confronts him at one point, after blaiming himself for making him evil, and obviously blaming the Dragons. And the King says something like "You don't get it. I was always the same. I just pretended to be someone else in front of you because that's what you wanted to hear and I needed your help"
What I don't know is if there's more than a version of the movie and that scene was cut. But I've seen the flick in a lot of diferent channels and that line of dialog was always in it. If they did indeed cut it from the movie, then whoever did it is a moron, because that's the revealing point of the story. It's like cutting off Henry Ducard and Bruce Wayne's conversation in Batman Begins.

It was up to him to use his heart for good, unfortunately, the Dragon heart made his ego balloon.

He didn't BECOME evil, he was evil because King Freyn was a flippin' jagoff and The Brat was the spit and image of his daddy.

Einon was always kind of a douche. He just showed his true colors when he finally became king.

As others said he was evil to begin with, you even see that before the scene when he takes the crown from his father. In the scene with Bowen, there is this look when Bowen touches him in a familiar fatherly way - he is so disgusted, because he is not used to this familiar touch. His father is a brutal and cruel king and his mother loathes him
Maybe he was a psychopath to begin with, but considering how he grew up no love (okay Bowen loved Einon, but at this point his approach to him was not successful), lots of privileges, that much power in his hands

I need to watch the movie again and find out if I'm right or not. Einons true nature was evil. I think Draco was hoping that his heart might have intensified the little bit of good that he hoped was in Einon.
Nah. The guy was plain evil. Even his mother later discovered this, probably only after he got the heart, but more than likely she had an inkling before that, and commented on the fact that she tried to "Save a creature who didn't deserve to be saved". He was manipulative and spoiled, and, as can be seen in the movie, unwilling to help his family, followers and friends in order to further his own needs.

Although people might have already stated everything, the reason Einon didn't seem evil for the first 5 minutes is because he needed to apeal to Bowen who's a totally awesome fighter and trainer. When he became king, he knew nothing could interfere with him any longer.

That's true because when Einon and Bowen are fighting in the river he said that he was just using Bowen to learn how to fight.He never beleived the Old Code.

I always thought it was because he was innately evil. Later, Draco says, "I thought my heart could change him. My God, I was so naive."
So that not even his evil heart (which he presumably inherited from his father) could be changed by the consideration of a dragon's heart.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

The scene in which Einon callously yanks the crown from his dying father's clutch before he ever received the heart from Draco reveals his true nature to the audience (although not to Bowen since he wasn't there to witness the act).
