^^^ I'll take 'over the top 90's excess' over '2005-2015 excess' any day of the week.
The 90's were, as far as movies are concerned, much more real, raw and badass. There were a lot of computer effects-heavy movies of course, but it was not as bad as it is today. Nowadays they literally shoot $200 million movies entirely in front of a damn green screen. It's all way too artificial now.
The good balance that we had in the 90's between real-life location shooting and green/blue screen shooting is now pretty much gone.
If Eraser was made now, in 2017, it would most likely be very close to a video-game.

Watching this now and that line was surprisingly self-aware considering the whole movie is over the top 90s excess. I liked it.

In certain versions of the russian dub for this line in movie gets badly interpreted (perhaps intentionally), the meaning is changed more along the lines of the bad guy being in angry disbelief that arnold sided with the witness girl and rejecting the offer of his traitorous co-workers rather then being in angry disbelief over being wounded by a very mundane object.
