You can always tell when Cameron Crowe thinks he has written a good line because he has the characters say it twice in a row.
Basically, this is a chick flick wrapped in football.

HA! I never noticed it before but you are correct.
Another one: "Go ahead and gogo ahead and go" which is particularly nauseating since it was a tiny child who said it and I don't think a child so young would say that, especially in that way, unless they were simply mimicking something an adult had said.
I am sure someone will jump on me and say "well my kid has said X, Y and Z" and fine, whatever, but generally speaking, children that age don't talk that waythe way this kid did in this situation.

Is that why? I figured he was required to write a minimum number of words and just repeated them for filler. I'll bet the script was triple-spaced.

He also thinks he's some kind of music aficionado, putting all kinds of (supposed) exotic 1960's music in his movies.
Well he does have a solid background in music journalism from the age of 15 or 16 and he wrote for Rolling Stone at that age so he does have genuine knowledge of music.
I don't see how his music choices in films mean that he "thinks he's some kind of music aficionado." He uses music that means something to him or that he enjoysI have never heard him or anyone claim that the music he chooses for his films is "exotic." He does a great job at choosing songs for particular scenes that trigger emotions.

I wouldn't say movies with romantic themes are automatically "chick flicks", especially when its main character is a normal type of guy, and especially if the guy is struggling in some way. This and High Fidelity are two of my favorites, very easy to identify with the main characters and that pulls me in and gets me invested (High Fidelity beats this out though)

Example: "Show me the money!" repeated multiple times
"You had me at hello You had me at hello."
"You complete me." 2x (3 if you know sign language)

Yeah you're kind of right. But I also don't find that to hurt the movie at all.
