OP, I just saw the movie again last night, and I rewound that scene. It is indeed CREEPY.
The plot point was inspired by the '93 WTC attack, which WAS carried out by Muslims, thus the reason to blame the next attack on them, but the close call on the casualties is what catches most people as bizarre.

That's weak. They did the same thing in that other movie, too.
It kind of gives the political mentality of some filmmakers. I don't know what they think is so valuable about destorying you're own buildings in favor of something that costs too much to do. Not just money, but lives. What do they think is so kind and generous about places like Afghanistan or Iraq. They were terrible places before we were at war with them.

There are several movies I've heard, Sword Fish included that have seemed to predict 9/11 this one was down to the casualties.
