Did they know it was all intended as  "bluff" ?<br />
If they didn't then it is understandable if it came as a rude shock to them !<br />
Any thoughts ?</p>

<p dir="auto">I think Baxter knew Humell's intentions, but they believed the government would cave to their demands. The mercenaries were ready to kill and Humell was a fool to involve them, or expect them to really care about his cause. The antagonists are unusually complex and well drawn in the film (unsurprising with Tarantino and Sorkin helping with the script).</p>
