The film was actually from some Catholic non profit in Mississippi. They wanted a film with Catholic values. They profits from the film went to building a Catholic school.

I think it would be perfect as a movie to teach religious people acceptance and compasion and respect for those who are different. Something BADLY needed in a lot of religions.

Yes it is a good movie for workshops that deal with teaching theology through film. Another really good book on this topic is "How movies helped save my Soul" I don't have it right here in front of me so I'm not sure of the author but this book will enable you to see movies like you never have before.
