Eh, it might be a slight similarity but i'm tellin ya, there IS a big difference.

The film may have been filmed in Vermont, but it was still definitely set in Maine. And as for screenplay adaptation? The director wrote this himself, it wasn't an adaptation, so how could Stephen King have done it better? And to someone in IL, the Boston accent does have a similarity to what was used in the movie.
P.S. If you like this movie, there is a wonderful musical for the stage based on it (though they significantly changed the ending as you might expect from a musical). But it is still amazing.

The Maine and Boston accent are soo completly different it isn't even funny.
