<p dir="auto">After NBC dropped it following Frasier it's audience shrunk 50% and quickly cancelled.<br />
Where was that audience to begin with then?<br />
Did everyone fall asleep after Frasier?<br />
How did (and still) compile their numbers and remain relevant?</p>

<p dir="auto">I don't think it was ever a major hit in the Nielsens. It never cracked the top 10. The highest it reached was #12. And only two other seasons scored in the top 20.<br />
It probably kept getting renewed because someone at NBC loved the show and once they felt it had run its course, they moved it to a slot where it finally tanked.<br />
The introduction of Vicki at the beginning of season 7 feels like a jump the shark moment. And they eventually realized she wasn't working and axed her in the middle of the last season. At least the show ended on a good note with one of the better finales.</p>
