I remember going to see this when it came out. I was 4 and my mom took me out while my dad stayed after Owen wilsons death because I started crying. Just thought I share some memories.

I did. Several times. I was about 11. It was a lot of fun and all the kids in my school was raving about it and scared. It helped that earlier in my youth I went to a lot of field trips and to the everglades. So I was familiar with reptilians thought was unrealistic. I kept thinking it doesnt look like a snake and I doubt a snake would act like that. Which is probably why I was going for Voight's character of capturing it and trying to save it.

I saw it way back when the same night as The Relic. They were both 15 certificates. I was 15 in '97. The cinema was the odeon. After it closed, to make way for a new, bigger one, the building was turned into a bowling alley. That closed. Now it's a park n stride.

Not only did I see this in the theater, I was working at the theater when this came out. It actually did fairly well at ours because of Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube. We had this in our largest theater for a couple of weeks. In fact, I even remember the movie that replaced this in our largest theater; "Breakdown".

I remember I saw this in theaters with my dad when I was 13. The fact that this is nearly 20 years old makes me feel really old. I watched it again today on DVD and I have to say that the effects are actually pretty decent as I think that late 90s movies look good because they were just starting to use CGI but they weren't overdoing it, so films from that era tend to have aged pretty well and still are pretty decent now.

I went to see it in the theater with my older brother. I was 15. We sat in the back, and what I remember most is we sat back there laughing at how fake the attack scenes and the snake looked.
-Oh, that? One of my patients. He'ssick.

I didn't see this in the theater. Watching for the first time on Netflix.
I have to comment, though. Why would parents take a 4 year old to see this? Was it promoted as family friendly? PG 13 for a reason. sheesh.

My mom took my cousin and I to see this movie at our local 99 cent theater. It was a small theater with only 2 screens and all tickets were 99 cents each. The reason the tickets were so cheap was that the movies they played there were just a couple of weeks away from home video release. Needless to say, 1997 was the last summer the theater was open before closing for good. It's now a storage facility. I'll never know how that theater turned a profit or how they could even pay their staff, but they were open for at least 10 years before closing. Anyways, I remember Anaconda being a pretty "good" movie (granted i was still in elementary school at the time), but nothing to write home about. Somehow the SPX in this movie were better than the 2004 sequel.

I did when I was 15, saw it on a date with a nice light-skinned beautyended up providing her some smooches during the first 10-15 mins because the movie seemed pretty dull, IMO.
People reacted to the scene when the anaconda vomited Jon Voight's character, and I also remember the audience reacting to the shot of the anaconda wrapping itself in a rapid motion around Voight's character (you know, the shot that was shown in the TV spots and Trailers), that part still gives me the chills to this day. I remember being impressed with the cgi, but when you see it now, looks pretty dated, still groundbreaking, at least for 1997.
P.S. I will say that I found it rather ODD they showed the trailer of this film when I took my little cousin to see Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (sigh).
