I own this flick on DVD and I could swear I saw a longer version once, maybe on one of the movie channels. The DVD version feels "edited." I thought we found out at some point that Helen's MIL sabotaged her diaphragm. Also, the trailer includes a burning building. Does anyone know?

The ending that was originally filmed had Martha dying in a fire after brawling with Gwenyth's character. The husband rescues the baby, but he is unable to save Martha, and she burns.

There was a trailer for this film on a DVD that showed the burning building and a few other things that must have gotten cut from the final film version. I still think this movie is pretty good..I don't know why people knock it so much. Jessica Lange stole the entire movie naturally!

I just watched this on the movie channels and I remember something about the diaphragmI thought she sabotaged it too. The version I saw was when Helen walked in the diaphragm was just sitting out in all it's glory. I think I rememebr somethign about a burning building too. that's very strange
