Return of the Jedi
Toy Story
Jurassic Park
Barry Lyndon
Hmmm something tells me the Top 250 is really just a crock of sh!t!

Toy Story and The Dark Knight are rightfully rated higher than this film. A 7.9 is a generous enough rating.
On the other hand this film is better than
Guardians of the galaxy
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
A Beautiful Mind

How about the real problem makers: all the marvel movies that are in there: Avengers, Guardians of the galaxy, X-men days of future past
Those don't belong in a top 250 list

I agree, Boogie Nights should make the list, but those films are all at least good IMO, especially Barry Lyndon and Jurassic Park, those are great timeless hits. The reason Boogie Nights is only a 7.9 is because too many people are offended or turned off by porn. Those people shouldn't be watching the movie in the first place, but they did unfortunately. Imbeciles.

JP, despite it's inaccuracies, is one of my favourite movies ever, an incredible technical achievement and a great thrill ride that articulates pertinent questions about man as God, ethics of cloning, etc. I liked Boogie Nights a lot, but it's the classic rise and fall movie I've seen about a dozen times already. Scorsese does these types of movies better (not to say that BN isn't technically well-crafted and written).

Never seen Shutter Island or Twelve Monkeys. I agree with you on V for Vendetta, X-Men isn't there anymore, Rush has great racing scenes, and Niki Lauda has no complaints about any portrayal of characters. It's crazy how much Hemsworth and Hunt look alike aswell as Lauda and Bruhl. I think it deserves to be there. How to Train Your Dragon is fantastically paced and has great animation and great action scenes plus actual character development. It totally deserves to be there. The Truman Show is even more amazing. Especially the last 30 or so minutes. Must be some of the best in movie history.

The Truman Show is an incredibly well-made film. There's a lot more films I have an issue with being in the top 250 than that.
But yes, the list is slanted so that popular new releases shoot up the charts. I like the They Shoot Pictures lists which has a separate list for 21st Century Films, although some of them do pop up in their list of top 1000 too.

Indeed very trueand to think he fought tooth and nail against taking the role, thought the low budget payment he received was an insult, and fought with PTA on set, physically even.
If he hadn't disowned the movie right before release and fired his agent as a result, he likely would have had a
chance of beating Robin Williams for Best Supporting Actor.

These days the largest demograph voting for the Top 250 are obviously somewhere around 16-22yr old males. After they go to the theater they immediately get online and give a bunch those films a "10". It's obvious when you look at the amount of votes new flicks are getting.
Boogie Nights should definitely in the Top 250. These films should definitely not be on the list, even if it's not Boogie Nights which replaces them :
The Truman Show
Shutter Island
Twelve Monkeys
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Rush
How to Train Your Dragon
V for Vendetta
I can think of at least 20 other flicks which should replace those.
