It's not everyone's cup of tea but I found Snow White and the Huntsman to be very Grimms in tone. It felt like they were trying to capture the essence of a dark fairytale
Sleepy Hollow is advertised as a horror film but it's more of a dark fairytale too
I never knew they made a movie of The Juniper Tree. Will have to check that one out

Aside from all the films already mentioned, I add the 5 Fantaghir movies.
It's an European production, very grim, intense, romantic and beautiful, I love it.
If you like dark fairytales, you must check it out.
Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

I highly recommend a german film called Krabat, Daniel Bruhl has an important role (the german actor who plays the nazi sniper in Inglorious Basterds), and there is a girl who even resembles Snow White (and I am sure this was made on purpose)

It is a VERY dark fairy tale, in the authentic style and respecting the roots as the original folk tales of old days were told.
And of course, like others have mentioned, Pan's Labyrinth is probably the quintessential dark cinematographic fairy tale.

I also recommend Mirrormask, which is kind of like a warped version of the Wizard of Oz. Based on a story by Neil Gaiman, and featuring artwork from Dave McKean.

I concur with The Company of Wolves. It's like a Grimm brothers fairy tale brought to life. Best of all it has the wonderful Angela Lansbury serving as a narrator of sorts as Granny.

Sleepy Hollow by Tim Burton plays out a bit more like a dark fairytale than anything else if you count a movie in the 1700s as being a fairytale
Disney's Sleeping Beauty is pretty dark as well

The Company of the Wolves by Neil Jordan is a big one. Very dark and twisted.
Walerian Borowczyk's La Bte is a really twisted look on Beauty and the Beast, but it's very explicit.

One of the freakiest soundtracks ever made.

Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno). This is a dark fairy tale, and it is the most beautiful movie I have ever seen.

As far as dark films based on classic fairy tales go, you might want to check out these adaptations of some classic Grimm Brothers' fables:
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1946)
THE COMPANY OF WOLVES (1984)
THE JUNIPER TREE (1990)
and of course SNOW WHITE (1997)

I would love to see a horror movie based on the Grimms' retelling of Cinderella the birds attacking people and shtuff.

This movie is not for "adults", it's just another point of view of a fairy tale
And yes, I'm pretty sure there ARE freaky movies about fairy tales, but sorry, I cannot give you any title : maybe little research can help you ?
