<p dir="auto">It would have been strange to have the protagonist die without a memorable exit line. I thought he was dead but didn't make much sense to have him disappear without some payoff.</p>

<p dir="auto">Yes, Bud took a few shots.  But the 'head shot' is shown to go through his cheek.  It obviously messed up his jaw because he couldn't speak, but it wasn't as bad as a hit to the skull.  The other shots could have been more life threatening.<br />
