I don't get why people are posting the pedophilia or 'was it filth?' comments.
I saw nothing but innocent friendship between them and I thought their relationship portrayed that excellently.
It became clear that Devon was intrigued by Trent, more so I imagine because of the completely different way of life (Poor) and his freedom of emotions compared to the residents of Camelot that she was accustom to.
He showed her emotions that she'd never experienced before and I think it completely opened her up to the world. Through his influence, she broke the mould and set herself free.
And the same from Trent's side, he seemed to hold the big brother protecting little sister mantle. I think she opened his eyes to the beauty of innocence, and the unbiased personality she showed towards him regardless of him being poor or not.
They appreciated each other because of who they were as individuals, not because of any superficial or material possessions or status.
I think anyone in Trent's position would instinctively and naturally feel compelled to 'protect' and preserve Devon's pure innocence, and as a result allow her to grow into the person SHE wants to be, not what society or her vile parents and peers wanted.
