So before I watched the movie, I read the plot on wikipedia (I know, stupid) and this is what it says. . .
"In the surface plot, the pair strike up an adventurous friendship, which is later misunderstood by the townspeople, who begin to suspect that Trent is a child molester. Ironically, one of Trent's adversaries is, but Trent is not. However, the movie is actually a highly abstract allegory about class conflict in which Trent and Devon's relationship is actually sexual, a device intended to produce an Alienation effect in the viewer to force them to more carefully examine the surrounding symbolism".
So while I'm watching the movie, I'm waiting for an obvious scene to prove their relationship was indeed sexual, and there wasn't. I took the movie at face value but I can see how someone would assume this, with the scar touching scene. I haven't been able to find any other reviews that agree to this theory so I'm wondering, do any of you believe it?

I don't believe it. I've been wrong before but I don't believe it. I didn't feel alienated and I wasn't sitting there looking for symbolism. Just another reason why you shouldn't take anything on wikipedia too seriously.
And I hope you learned your lesson about reading too much about movies before watching them.
The only things I'll check about a movie before seeing it are the plot synopsis, maybe the trailer, and I take a look at the rating here on imdb (even though a low rating usually doesn't stop me).
