Flyboy revealed that his mother made him take his clothes off, "take your clothes off young man!"
And get into bed with her so therefore, it was Flyboy that the father discovered in bed with the mother, rather than a ranchhand, as had been the story everyone told.
Seeing them in an incestuous situation must have been what drove the father to his suicide.
Flyboy also revealed that the mother said, "Happy Anniversary" to the Father when he discovered her in bed with her son, which she echoes when Flyboy discovers her with Clay in the bedroom.
She was one twisted character, for sure!
