Hum had sex with Lo three times before checking out of the Enchanted Hunters' Hotel. Upon leaving the hotel Hum took her to a store where he bought her numerous items including a box of sanitary pads. The book doesn't indicate weather it was because she had started menstruating or because she was bleeding from the sex- which is possible as Lo was only 12 and she did complain about pain from the sex- that she felt Hum had "broken something inside."
