If I found myself in their predicament, the first thing I would have done is try dousing the bots with water to short them out. It ain't like there was no water available. They were in the middle of the ocean! Not to mention, the ship they were on was highly sophisticated, I'm absolutely sure there was a fire sprinkler system though out.
