When chris tucker is on the phone with the chinese dude and they are talking about how the ransom will be paid, chris tucker says something which can be interpreted as fives or fries. which one is it?
The lines of Chris are.
"twenty million in fifty."
"twenty million in twenty."
"and ten million in ten."
after this he says "Do you want any (fries or fives) with that."
The american dvd-subtitle says it's fries, but the dutch dvd-subtitle says it fives.
But which one is it?
Please help me out

But arn't the subtitle different in some other countries? Also, subtitles arn't always correct if you watch them

I think its Fives accuatly, as part of the joke, that fives sounds like fries. So since they are talking about money and the guy is listing out different amounts, he says fives. Just a thought

I watched it last night on subtitles. He says 'Fries'
Why bother arguing? If you got the dvd watch it on subtitles. Unless the U.S. version is different to U.K. but I can't see that being the case.

Jesus mo fo shatwitch people (yet again), haven't any of you considered that the line is INTENTIONALLY crossed to make the joke WORK? It's meant to be funny dammit! The pun is 'fries', the logic is 'fives' - OBVIOUSLY this is why the subtitles are so confused.
Maybe we should argue this about every friggin joke in the film, then none of it will be funny anymore - hoo-friggin-ray. I don't know about you, but i just can't friggin wait till the next time i see that part; instead of thinking, 'oh thats reasonably amusing', i'll be thinking of this sorry-ass argument. Cheers.

I think he says "fives," just because it makes sense to say that more so than "fries." By saying "fives" Tucker's character stays quite a bit more on topic than if he said "fries", and since "fives" sounds so much like "fries," it kind of turns into a play on words. People are obviously going to recognize that "fives" sounds like "fries," so the punch is still there for people to laugh at. If the subtitles say it's "fries" though, I very well could be wrong.

i heard fives too cause its abt money. However, Imdb has stated under memorable quotes(u can get there by clicking on any of the highlighted character's name say eg: Chief Inspector Lee) that Chris said fries. U can argue abt this though coz that Sang seemed to have snapped at Chris after he asked that question.
