That in order to aide the actors performance, the rescue squad were made to go through real life bootcamp to prepare for the role while Matt Damon was not, and they made damn sure the other actors knew Damon did not have to do this, as they wanted the other actors to resent Damon irl as they were supposed to resent him in the film for reasons that should be obvious.
