This was in my suggested list on Youtube, probably because I recently watched "Saving Private Ryan, making of the scene", which is basically a run down on a specific scene and why it works.
Taking a look at it I was surprised to see a lot of the comments were in agreement with the author's opinion.
I personally don't think the movie nor the portrayal of the average German soldier was propaganda, or demonizing as suggested, but I wont go into detail on my opinion just yet. Instead I was curious if anyone else had an opposing opinion to the video and why?

Keep in mind that the captured German solider was portrayed in a sympathetic light, so I don't know where the demonizing comes in. In fact, some of the American characters are real bastards.
I think the intent was to show war in the most realistic light possible; everyone is a vicious, blood-thirsty prick, but only out of necessity.

Of course it's propaganda. Whether you enjoy the film or not, it is.

He makes some valid points, but many of his points pertain more to the genre of war movies and to action movies in general than to this one film.
Entropy ain't what it used to be.
