It wouldn't make a tv series in terms of retaining the plot elements of this film. It would have to be completely different, not relating to an election which is the central premise. You could take the characters and devise a completely different premise and interactions, but it wouldn't resemble this movie and this movie is such a perfect film, why muddy the water?

No. I don't think it could be stretched into a TV series. The plot and the characters are enough for a rather short film but I don't see the conflicts and interactions being sustained the way they would be in a TV series.
