Assuming this film is first; what would add to a required movie viewing list regarding world affairs and/or war on terror and why.

Unthinkable (2010) it is more an intellectual drama movie than just a simple action movie (although some memorable action scenes definitely take place!) but it gets you thinking about things stuff ain't always simple black-or-white.

because you can't distinguish between OBL and sadam husain when it comes to the war on terror (as GWB said),
Green Zone
Fair Game
The Hurt Locker
Body of Lies

I have twoWORLD TRADE CENTER and UNITED 93. Then maybe one will remember the truth of what these real murderers,Islamic extremeists, are capable of. Then one can think back to this movie and realize how the radical Hollywood left was way off base when they tried to portray the American military as vilians while the Muslims were just victims of American foreign policy.

Charlie Wilson's War. Especially since it is based on a true story. Incredibly interesting to see how one man (actually a very small group) can influence the lives of millions of people halfway around the world while persuing thier own personal agendas.
I don't have an opinion. The word "opinion" implies the possibility I'm wrong.

'The Kingdom' and 'Syriana'. Both are primers on international political intrique. I just watched Syriana last Friday night, and it is particularly relevant in light of the BP situation. Who knows what goes on?
Also, 'Mongol', a brilliant film about empire that just shows that nothing ever changes.

Manifest
you are completely right..
Lions for Lambs illustrates a number of the issues in the US around the WOT that aren't talked about anywhere else.
spoiler:
most seriously that the momentum of the US way of life leaves us vulnerable to Terror and manipulation by all the different political, media, industrial and public forces here.
If young people want to see change for the better on the issues that matter to them the way to do that is to stop whining and become involved become politicians, scientists, business people. become the elite of our country make it better from within.. because that is the only way it can happen. sit ins will never. ever, do it.

Lions for Lambs - very underated imho.
Raises some good questions and does a good job of explaining the relationships between media/poluticians/military.
Farenheit 9/11 also does go some way to explain some underlying motivations for the current war on terror.
Both can provide an insight, albeit quite subjective and very simplistic, about how things really are
