How come every movie that has a component of LA police corruption, ends up with the corrupt cops getting an award or commendation, posthumously or otherwise?
Training Day
Crash
LA Confidential
Others I am certain, those quickly pop to mind.
Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

The other David Ayer films are solid (especially Street Kings, SWAT & Sabotage).
For other movies and shows, obviously you can find the Michael Mann earlier films/shows rather entertaining but The Shield, The Closer and Bosch all deal with similar material too.

There are also many other movies where they don't.
The thing is, having L.A. police in a movie or in a TV show is very convenient, since they shoot in LA Thus most movies/tv shows have their police in LA, so on average when that situation occurs, it's likely to be the LA police!

It's an easy way to inject some irony into the conclusion.
