I think you are right with that reason.
Like we see Tony being a family man and going to therapy where he looks like any of us or a regular guy.
I also think it's because we don't really get to know the victim or that they are unlikable people.
Like in a movie we may get to know a victim who is a nice person then we will not be on the side of the murdering villain and will want to see him get killed or justice for the victim.

This was around season 5 I think, and yep the boy is called Drew Sharp. They dissolve all their victims’ bodies in hydrochloric acid. They had to steal chemicals from the train because their current supply was cut off by a DEA investigation.

They didn’t realize, until this point, that the ginger guy they hired that shoots the kid was a sociopath. They’re also running a massive underground meth empire business and didn’t want the kid telling anyone he saw three guys hanging around a train that was heisted for millions of dollars worth of chemicals.
