In this movie a guy calls a black man cornbread and Shaft gets all worked up about that.
It was implicit that calling a black person Cornbread is very offensive however I never heard that term as an offensive slang.

Most southerners, black or white, used to eat cornbread, and many still do. I don't think of it as belonging to any particular people.
