Yes. Jeffrey Wright in particular really stinks up the place with his hammy acting. What an embarrassment.

I've always liked this movie, I think it's rated WAY too low, maybe a 6.8/6.9 is fair, but 5.9 is for ACTUAL bad movies, not just okay movies.

Or is it that just people think the original is so much better and are downmarking it for being a bad imitation?

I enjoyed this one way better than the overrated original Shaft film. The original was damn boring and the only good thing about it was the soundtrack score. Tarantino was right, karate movies utilized the original Shaft soundtrack better than Shaft did.
When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

Its a good movie. Fun, trashy movie.

It's not really a good movie, but it's one of those movies I love to watch. Bale plays almost the same character as American Psycho and it's kinda funny to see that character mixed in this world. Plus, Jackson was born to play Shaft.
