Good guess, though since the place is mentioned early in the film. The real Cozy's Soup & Burger is at 735 Broadway. Definately worth checking out.

Based on this, I looked it up via Google Earth. The place is called the Market Cafe (www.marketcafenyc.com), located at 496 9th Avenue. From their web site, you can see in the gallery of pictures that it is the same place. In particular, you can see the old sign lettering in the window spelling out "Market Cafe" in one of the pictures. These exact same letters can be seen behind the characters while they are sitting at the table in the movie. The lettering has apparently been changed since the movie was filmed, as some of the web site pictures show the diner name spelled out with a different style font.
The diner interior has been significantly improved and gone a bit upscale since the movie. But the white tile walls with the mirror directly above the benches is still there, and the color scheme is still blue vinyl on the benches.
The exterior of the place can be seen in Google Earth by using the "street view function". The closest picture is 498 9th Avenue. In the current picture, there is unfortunately a red stake body truck parked almost directly in front.

Yeah, Jim. As a non- New Yorker, my partner and I LOVED the movie. Especailly the lounge singer's song. What a great sense of humor you all had!!!
Thanks. Please do another one with the same quality. It's so refreshing to have a great gay movie and one that doesn't end in tragedy.
