Although I wasn't crazy about this movie, I surprisingly thought that Tori Spelling performed exceptionally well definitely the best acting I've ever seen from her.
Does anyone else out there think it's no surprise that such a great performance came from a role where she probably felt the most natural.as a bad actress?

I agree. I loved her. Especially the diner scene. I thought she was great. Yeah, she's annoying but she's supposed to be & still somehow came across as endearing. I actually know people like that so I think she nailed it, if you ask me.

My friends and I were watching and at the end we all blurted, "Damn, she can really act." Of course the role was totally over the top.but I now think that she's actually a pretty good (comedic) character actor and now am surprised she's not used in more roles in this capacity.

saw what a great actress she really is.. She has the character down pat
and gives a truly glowing performance. This is a real love story and
the rest of the cast is splendid Great film'

I keep wondering how filmmakers and casting agents could have ignored Tori Spelling after her roles in The House of Yes and Trick. Before I saw those movies I thought she was just a joke, a talentless hack who was pushed by her bigwig father. But when I saw The House of Yes, I began to think that there was more to her than meets the eye.
When I rented Trick, me and my boyfriend (he's my husband now) found ourselves totally surprised by her performance. Funny, sweet but also neurotic, self-absorbed and a little tragic, Tori gives an exceptional performance in this movie. I even remember that she was singled out by the now-defunct movie magazine Premiere as one of the most surprising performances of the year. I really thought that Hollywood would come calling, but that unfortunately didn't happen. Too bad.

Of course that's part of the character! She's an overdramatic, non-talented Fag-hag. She has to be loud and obnoxious, otherwise it's not funny. and the best part is, she remains blind to the fact that she's over-the-top. She thinks she's talented. It's classic.
The real question is wither or not Tori was actually
acting
in the film.

Are you people all talking about the same movie I just saw, because Tori Spelling was just plain same bad-acting Tori Spelling. Tori Spelling was good in maybe the first three seasons of 90210 and in the movie The House of Yes, in which she had a tiny but very good part. In this movie she is so over the top. You could argue that the over-the-top is just the nature of the character, but sorry friends, there's over-the-top and very bad over-the-top. Guess which one she belongs to?

Exactly !!Tori spelling did look like that Drag queen in gay club .Infact if that drag queen was not big enough in height than Gabriel and Mark then many people would have think same.I think directors had purposely done this resemblance between two .Reason best known to them
Infact in whole movie Tori spelling look very less feminine at all.She looked very masculine
No personal disrespect to Tori spelling and to transsexuals in general.
Besides talking about acting, Tori's acting was pretty annoying .She was close to ruining the fun of the movie .

I definately think Tori Spelling was a superb choice for the role. I saw "the drag queen" doing a standup routine in NY last year, and even SHE commented on how the casting was a little sketchy Tori looked like her her words. If Miss Coco Peru is confused, you can only imagine the audience's reaction!

Yes, the first time I saw the film, I thought that it was Tori Spelling playing a dual role as the drag queen.
I have to agree with everyone on this board. Spelling was surprisingly terrific in her role in this movie. Annoying, sweet, and funny all at once.
In fact, Trick is one of the most surprisingly good gay comedies I've seen. So much better than that "Broken Hearts Club" crap. When it was first released, it was touted as being the first mainstream gay movie. It never even entered the gay cult film status. Trick is by far the better film. Broken Hearts Club was dreck; I was shocked how awful the film was and how much I didn't buy into the characters.
Maybe it was the West Hollywood thing that bothered me. I like Trick, set in my native NY.
