Usually in these kinds of movies, the female characters are dead weight, but I was surprised at how much I liked Maggie. She's patient and supportive throughout the whole ordeal (both husband and son acting spooky), and most of the time I felt bad for her. She even ends up "saving" Tom in the end. Usually I'm not even aware of these types of characters, but I think the way she was handled was really great. (Or maybe I'm just being overly sentimental because it's Valentine's Day)

Yeah, she was pretty cool. Although I do think she could have handled the digging situation better (she knew there was something very wrong with Tom, yet she acted really surprised about the whole thing), for the most part she remained level-headed and did her best to help Tom. Kathryn was great in the role by the way.

Agreed. I liked her character more than I did tom for the majority of the film. Her husband was acting crazy (we know he has a condition but to any normal person he looks psychotic) and she stood by him and took the punches. Then she tries to learn about it through Neil and even helps to save tom in the end. She was a cool character

Actually, I found her quite annoying. Especially after Jake spoke with the '2nd' voice and Tom wants to talk to him about it, I would have shouted at her to "shut the
beep
up" instead of "Maggie please".

She never told her husband about Neil the cop. Not nice - but then neither was her husband. They were a good match.

Definitely agree with both posts. Maggie's role, and Kathryn Erbe's performance, were strengths of the movie.
^^This. I definitely agree, loved Erbe in the film.
I loved her tits.
LOL, me too haha

LOL, she could. I loved Kathryn Erbe's performance in here. The way she says: "She did?" on the phone was perfectly delivered too.

I really think the wife's character was improved from the book. I did not like the wife at all in the book. Maggie was great. She was supportive and caring but could really pull out the Queen Bitch card when she had to, lol.

Her character in the film is greatly expanded on from what she was in the book. Even her name was changed (Anne was her name in the book if I recall). She was a heavily pregnant stereotypical 50s housewife in her early-to-mid twenties in the book as I recall, and nothing like the very direct, hands-on and strong character the screenwriters wrote her to be.
