In the scene where we first see Pilot, he's at a pool and a little kid is complaining that something (not shown) that Pilot is offering him smells like sht, and Pilot says 'it's because they're grown in dirt', or something. And he says they're blue which means they're good.
Was he actually trying to sell a little kid some drugs?
